Without doubt the best vacation villa we have ever hadSix of us travelled to this lovely villa at the end of June after attending a wedding in Florence. The location is fabulous, tucked away on a quiet wooded hillside – however, a sat nav is definitely recommended for finding it initially, even though the single track road up to the village of Migliano is straight off the main road to Lucca, ! The location is very convenient for visiting Lucca, Pisa and Viareggio. Even Florence is within easy reach along the autostrade. There is a good supermarket and fresh fruit & veg shop 10 minutes along the road towards Lucca and a couple of good restaurants in the next village going the other way. The villa itself is extremely well-equipped and Aladinno and his good lady could not do too much for us, buying us an electric kettle so that we could indulge in the good old fashioned English tradition of tea-making and even bringing us extra beds and linen so that family who couldn’t cope with the heat in Florence could join us in the cooler hills for a few days! Outside the house are large table and chair sets on two sides (both under sun canopies) and a built-in barbeque. At the back is a really good-sized swimming pool (which is kept clean with a salt system rather than smelly chlorine), plenty of sun loungers, a comfortable seating area under a large sun canopy and a table tennis table. On arrival Aladinno was waiting for us with drinks and cake. Although he doesn’t speak English he does speak French and German and one member of our party was able to converse with him as she has good language skills. That said, even when she wasn’t around, with the help of some ad-hoc sign language and a bit of sketching we found communication was relatively easy ….. and even fun. The night before some of our party went home, Aladinno brought his son up to cook pizza for us in a traditional wood-fired pizza oven. What an experience! He had told us that Gabriel would cook pizza but we weren’t expecting SIX different kinds of pizza! They just kept coming and coming …… and then when we said we couldn’t manage any more he brought us a PUDDING pizza. Afterwards we were able to chat to Gabriel as he does speak English. For the last two days of our visit just two of us were left at the villa and on our last night we were invited to join Aladinno and his friends at their table after we bumped into them in a local restaurant. The morning we left he insisted on us following him all the way to Pisa airport so that we didn’t get lost. Now that really is service for you. THANK YOU Aladinno, for ensuring we had everything we needed for a relaxed and comfortable holiday. Best wishes to you, your good lady and your son, Gabriel, and we hope to see you again in the future
